The Hacienda San Luis Rey, A New Senior Living Community
Watermark Retirement Communities and Oppidan Investment Company are creating a senior living community in the city of Oceanside in North San Diego County, California. In this coast-side setting near the historic Mission San Luis Rey, The Hacienda will feature 103 Independent Living, 86 Assisted Living and 24 Memory Care residences. Studio, one- and two-bedroom residences will be offered on a monthly rental basis.
Personal residences will be comfortable retreats, with plentiful windows to draw in the soft Southern California light. These pet-friendly apartments will feature modern kitchenettes, upgraded appliances, and tall ceilings, some with private balconies or patios. The secure Memory Care neighborhood, designed for those who can benefit from a safe, residential-styled environment with cutting-edge memory care programming, will feature private and semi-private suites, and will be notable for several inviting common areas including living rooms, an open kitchen with family-style seating, a small beauty salon and a large, landscaped courtyard.
With roots in the hospitality industry, The Hacienda will bring together intentional design and innovative programming to promote each resident’s well-being and vibrant longevity.
Architecture and design will feature the best of regional influences with the red tile roofs, white molded walls, abundant windows, and porches and patios of the Spanish Colonial Revival Style
that take their inspiration from San Diego’s celebrated history–especially from the nearby Mission San Luis Rey. Located close enough to the ocean to feel the presence of a soothing marine layer, The Hacienda will invite a comfortable indoor/outdoor lifestyle that will take advantage of the area’s near year-round comfortable climate. In addition to fully landscaped courtyards, The Hacienda will feature private garden spaces, an outdoor heated pool, large covered patios for dining and events, a Pickle Ball court, and large dog walking area.
Backed by a robust suite of services grounded in a concierge model, community amenities will showcase food, wellness, and hospitality. The community will have four destination dining venues: a large open-kitchen dining room centered on an open hearth oven, a formal dining room serving elevated fare and wine and cocktails, a more informal café with a warm and comfortable vibe that offers a versatile menu keyed to the seasons, and a casual outdoor bar. A fully-equipped wellness center will feature a salon and spa, multiple activity venues, a state-of-the-art fitness center, club rooms, a theater, and a meditation garden. Residents may use Watermark’s Flex Spending program to take advantage of any of these hospitality amenities, as well as The Hacienda’s excellent cuisine and wine service.
